Claude Dashboards Not Showing, or Charts Show an Error for Coworkers? How to Turn It On, Connect Snowflake or BigQuery, and Share It (2026)

Short answer: Claude Dashboards is a beta for Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise. Free plans don’t get it. On Enterprise it’s off until an owner turns it on under Organization settings, then Artifacts. A chart that shows an error for a coworker usually means that person can’t reach the data source. Their own access is used, not yours. And dashboards built on a connector can never use “Anyone with the link.”

Anthropic launched Claude Dashboards on October 8, 2026. The pitch is simple: connect Snowflake, BigQuery, or Salesforce, ask a question in plain English, and get a live chart back.

A week in, the questions people are actually asking look different. Where’s the Dashboards option? Why does my teammate see an error where my chart should be? Why is the share-by-link option greyed out? Each one has a specific cause. None of them is a bug.

Below is what Anthropic’s own help pages say, sorted by the problem you’re most likely staring at.

Who can use Claude Dashboards right now?

Claude Dashboards is in beta on the Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans as of October 2026, according to Anthropic’s Get started with Claude Dashboards help article. The Free plan isn’t on that list.

There’s no separate fee. A dashboard is a type of artifact, and building one draws on the same usage limits as the rest of your plan.

The data side can cost money, though. If a chart runs a query against Snowflake or BigQuery, that compute is billed by the warehouse provider, the same as any other query.

Why don’t you see the Dashboards option in Claude?

On Claude Enterprise, Dashboards is off by default, and an owner has to turn it on in Organization settings under Artifacts before anyone in the organization sees it, Anthropic’s help center says. Owners can also restrict it to certain groups with custom roles.

So on an Enterprise seat, a missing option is almost always an admin setting. Upgrading or reinstalling won’t change it.

On Pro, Max, or Team, try the two entry points Anthropic lists before assuming it isn’t there:

  1. Start from a chat. Click Output in the message box and choose Dashboards. Or just ask Claude for a dashboard in plain words.
  2. Start from the Artifacts tab. Open it, pick a Dashboards template, and describe what you want to track.
  3. Check the plan. If you’re on Free, neither entry point will appear.
  4. Ask your admin about custom roles on Enterprise. You can be in an organization that has Dashboards on and still be in a group that’s excluded.

When I checked the setup steps listed in eesel’s independent review, I noticed one more dependency it mentions: the organization-level “code execution and file creation” capability. Anthropic’s short help article doesn’t spell that out. So if Artifacts works but Dashboards doesn’t, it’s a reasonable thing to ask your admin about.

Which data sources can a Claude dashboard connect to?

Claude Dashboards connects to five data warehouses (Amazon Redshift, BigQuery, ClickHouse, Databricks, and Snowflake) plus other apps you’ve already connected to Claude, such as Salesforce, according to Anthropic’s October 8, 2026 launch article.

Anthropic’s tip is to describe the question, not the chart. “Which regions missed their Q3 pipeline target?” works better than “make a bar chart.” Name the table or app if you know where the data lives.

Here’s where people get tripped up. The kind of connector matters more than which vendor you use.

  • A remote connector runs in the cloud. The dashboard can rerun its queries later.
  • A local connector runs on your own computer, like a desktop MCP server. Tabular Editor’s write-up found it can only feed one-time extracts while you build. The published dashboard can’t call it again.

If you built a dashboard from a local connection, the numbers won’t move on their own. Nothing is broken. That’s just how local connectors work here.

Server racks in a data center, representing the data warehouse a Claude dashboard queries
As of October 2026, Anthropic lists Redshift, BigQuery, ClickHouse, Databricks, and Snowflake as the warehouses Claude Dashboards can query.

Why does a chart show an error for someone else?

When someone opens a shared Claude artifact but can’t access one of the data sources it uses, “that part of the artifact shows an error instead of your data,” according to Anthropic’s Share artifacts help article.

This is the one that confuses teams most. Your dashboard looks perfect on your screen. A coworker opens it, and half the charts are blank.

The reason is that live queries run with the viewer’s own identity and permissions, not yours. That’s a security feature. It stops a dashboard from quietly handing your warehouse access to everyone you share it with.

The fix is on the data side:

  • Give the viewer access to the same Snowflake role, BigQuery dataset, or Salesforce report.
  • Have them connect that source in their own Claude account.
  • Then ask them to reload the dashboard.

Outside guests are a different case. Anthropic says parts of an artifact that rely on connectors or on Claude don’t work for people invited from outside your organization. No permission change fixes that.

Why can’t you share a dashboard with “Anyone with the link”?

Anthropic’s sharing rules say artifacts that connect to your apps or use Claude “can’t use ‘Anyone with the link,'” and on Team and Enterprise plans, link sharing outside the organization only works if an owner has turned on External sharing.

A connected dashboard is exactly that kind of artifact. So the greyed-out option is expected.

When I compared the sharing options across plans in that article, I found the gaps were bigger than I expected. Here’s the side-by-side.

Sharing question Pro / Max Team / Enterprise
Default visibility Only you Only you, and stays inside the org by default
Share with your organization Not an option “Anyone at [your org]”
“Anyone with the link” on a connected dashboard No No
Viewer needs a Claude account Yes Yes
Outside invitees per artifact Up to 50 Up to 50, if the owner allows external sharing
Connected charts work for outside guests No No
Pending invite expires After 30 days After 30 days
Change sharing in the iOS or Android app No, use web or Desktop No, use web or Desktop

Compiled from Anthropic’s Share artifacts help article, checked October 15, 2026. Beta rules may change.

The 50-person cap counts pending and accepted invites together. If you’ve sent a lot of invites that nobody accepted, you can hit it sooner than you’d think.

One more small trap. If you’re trying to change sharing from your phone, the setting isn’t there. Anthropic says you can’t change sharing settings in Claude for iOS or Android.

Is your dashboard live, or a frozen snapshot?

A Claude dashboard built on live queries reruns them when refreshed, while one built on extracted files shows data only as fresh as the last extract, according to Tabular Editor’s October 2026 analysis of the beta.

Anthropic’s help article says each chart shows its query and when its data was last refreshed. That timestamp is the quickest test.

Tabular Editor also notes the interface doesn’t clearly label live versus extract. Their check: click the database icon on a chart to see where the number comes from. A named file means an extract. A query against your warehouse means it’s live.

Honestly, this is worth doing on every chart before you send a dashboard to your boss. A snapshot that looks live is how wrong numbers end up in a Monday meeting.

Do Claude dashboards eat into your usage limit?

Claude dashboards count toward your plan’s usage limits, Anthropic says, and an artifact usage promotion that cut artifact work to 50% of the five-hour session limit ends on October 15, 2026 at 11:59 PM PT, per Anthropic’s promotion terms.

The promo had limits even while it ran. It covered the next 10 messages after an artifact was created or edited, and only the first 15 steps of each reply. It never changed the weekly limit, and Enterprise was excluded.

So if building dashboards felt cheap during the first two weeks of October, expect each edit to cost roughly twice as much of your session from October 16. You’ll probably notice it fastest if you iterate on a chart five or six times in a row.

Tips

  • Open each chart’s query once. Anthropic encourages this. If Claude counted the wrong thing, tell it exactly what to change.
  • Batch your edits into one message. “Add a region filter, switch to weekly, and drop the Q1 bars” costs one turn instead of three.
  • Share inside your organization first. It avoids most of the outside-guest limits.
  • For anything you’ll maintain for months, export to one of the BI tools Anthropic lists. Those include Hex, Grafana, Sigma, and Mixpanel. Anthropic itself frames Dashboards as best for “quick, exploratory questions.”

Warnings

  • Extracted data files can be read by anyone who can open the dashboard, Tabular Editor warns. Row-level security in your warehouse doesn’t protect them.
  • Each chart’s metric comes from its own query. Two charts can define “active customer” differently. Check before you compare them.
  • Turning off External sharing also kills existing public links, according to eesel’s review of the admin settings. Warn people before you flip it.
  • This is a beta. Anthropic’s terms say features may change, and not every beta graduates.

FAQ

Can I use Claude Dashboards on the free plan?

No. Anthropic lists Claude Dashboards as a beta for Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans only. Free accounts can still create other artifacts, but the Dashboards template is not included.

Does the person I share a Claude dashboard with need a Claude account?

Yes. Anthropic says everyone needs a Claude account to open a shared artifact, even with the link. Connected charts also need the viewer to have their own access to the data source.

Can Claude Dashboards connect to Power BI or Fabric?

Not as an official export target as of October 2026. Power BI and Fabric are not on Anthropic’s export list, and Tabular Editor reported that Microsoft’s Fabric IQ MCP server did not work with Claude Dashboards.
