EdgeX On-Chain Fees (2026): Cheapest Listed, Dearest in Practice
Updated 8 October 2026. TetherBase revised its exchange rates on 28 September 2026. Every figure below is recalculated against the new rate (EdgeX payback none). Rates change without notice, so check tetherbase.io before you trade.
EdgeX is an on-chain venue: connect a wallet, trade, no identity documents. It has the cheapest listed fee in the table and one of the worst effective costs.
The short version: 0.045% listed, no payback, so 0.045% is what you pay — $4.50 per $10,000 fill.
The payback is gone
It was 10% before the September revision. EdgeX now carries a signup path and no rebate.
That makes the arithmetic short. Nothing returns, so the listed fee is the final fee.
| Trade size (one taker fill) | Listed fee 0.045% | Payback | You actually pay |
|---|---|---|---|
| $1,000 | $0.45 | None | $0.45 |
| $10,000 | $4.50 | None | $4.50 |
| $100,000 | $45.00 | None | $45.00 |
Cheapest listed, dearest in practice
EdgeX lists 0.045% against Gate’s 0.05%. On the published numbers EdgeX wins.
Gate returns 70% and lands at 0.015%. EdgeX returns nothing and stays at 0.045%.
| Comparison | EdgeX | Gate | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Listed taker fee | 0.045% (cheaper) | 0.05% | EdgeX |
| Payback | None | 70% | Gate |
| Effective taker | 0.045% | 0.015% | Gate, 3.0× cheaper |
| Cost per $10,000 | $4.50 | $1.50 | $3.00 apart |
Read the rate card and EdgeX wins. Read the receipt and it loses threefold. The order you read them in decides the answer.
So what are you buying
Not the fee. No identity verification, and funds that stay in your own wallet.
A centralised venue holds your balance and can halt withdrawals. An on-chain venue structurally cannot. It also cannot restore an account, so a lost recovery phrase is final.
Whether that trade is worth $3.00 per $10,000 fill is the whole question. Trade rarely and it easily can be. Trade size daily and the cost compounds quickly.
Where it lands against the rest
| Exchange | Listed taker fee | TetherBase payback | Effective taker fee | Cost per $10,000 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bitget | 0.06% | 50% + 50% fee discount | 0.015% | $1.50 |
| Gate | 0.05% | 70% | 0.015% | $1.50 |
| OKX | 0.05% | 20% | 0.04% | $4.00 |
| Bybit | 0.055% | 20% | 0.044% | $4.40 |
| EdgeX (on-chain) | 0.045% | None | 0.045% | $4.50 |
| Binance | 0.05% | 10% | 0.045% | $4.50 |
EdgeX ends up level with Binance — the cheapest listed fee and the largest exchange meeting at the same effective cost, from opposite directions.
How to confirm the payback is actually reaching you
Two screens tell you whether the rate is working. The exchange’s own fee history, and wherever the rebate lands.
Open your filled orders first and read the fee that was actually deducted. If it differs from the listed rate, your volume tier moved or a discount applied.
Then open your TetherBase balance. Volume is aggregated and paid separately, so nothing about it appears inside the exchange.
Aggregation usually takes a day or two. A credit missing immediately after a fill is not a missing credit.
Check funding before you compare rates
A payback rate is worth nothing at a venue you cannot fund. Routing differs by country and by the domestic exchange you start from.
EdgeX is on-chain, so it sits outside any exchange-to-exchange transfer list. Funds arrive through your own wallet, which adds one transfer and one more network fee.
Work in that order and you avoid the common failure: an account opened on the strength of a rate table, then stuck at the deposit screen.
Transfer fees deserve the same attention
Trading fees are published, so they are easy to compare. Transfer fees are the ones that quietly add up.
They are flat per transfer, independent of the amount moved. Splitting one transfer into five multiplies the cost by five while moving the same money.
TRC20 runs roughly a dollar per transfer. ERC20 ranges from five to twenty-five dollars depending on congestion. Sending and receiving networks must match: addresses starting 0x are ERC20, addresses starting T are TRC20.
For a trader moving small amounts often, that gap outweighs several percentage points of payback.
What to re-check when a rate moves
A revision like this one reorders the whole table, which is why memorising a single number stops working within a quarter.
Three things are worth re-reading. Whether the listed fee has moved, what the payback rate is now, and where the product of the two places the venue against the others.
Those two inputs move independently. Listed fees change with the exchange’s own pricing; payback changes with partner terms. Watching one and assuming the other is how a stale figure survives for months.
And unless you trade heavily, a shuffle in the middle of the table rarely justifies moving accounts. Price the transfer fees and the time before you act on a ranking.
What volume tiers change
Every figure here is the entry tier. Listed fees fall as volume accumulates.
Payback is a percentage, so it keeps applying to the smaller base. The amount returned shrinks, but the net cost still falls.
That is why high-volume traders gain more from concentrating flow at one venue than from chasing the highest rate across several.
FAQ
Why did the EdgeX payback disappear?
The 28 September 2026 revision left EdgeX with a signup path only. There is no rebate and no referral discount.
Cheapest listed fee, worst effective cost — how?
Nothing is returned. The listed 0.045% stands, while Gate’s 70% rebate pulls it down to 0.015%.
Is there really no KYC?
None. Connecting a wallet is the account. There is also no account recovery.
Can I fund it straight from an exchange?
Withdraw to your own wallet first, then connect that wallet. There is no direct exchange-to-venue route.
