The X Subscription Replaces SuperGrok, Cursor Pro, and X Premium: Should You Switch, and the Permanent-Merge Catch (2026)

Short answer: The X Subscription launched October 12, 2026. It bundles Grok, Cursor, and X Premium into one plan from $8 to $200 a month. If you pay for SuperGrok and Cursor Pro separately, Premium at $30 is cheaper. If you only pay for X Premium+, it’s $10 cheaper. You don’t have to switch: existing plans keep their price. Merging your accounts is permanent, and Support can’t undo it. If you pay through Apple, check that your old subscription was actually cancelled.

Three bills turned into one this week. SpaceXSI, the company formerly called xAI, folded SuperGrok, Cursor, and X Premium into a single plan called The X Subscription.

The headline deal is real. SpaceXSI says the $30 Premium tier includes benefits that cost $90 a month combined. But whether you save money depends on which of those three you actually pay for today. And the switch has two catches that are easy to miss.

Here’s what each current subscriber should do, based on SpaceXSI’s launch post and its help docs.

In This Comparison

What is The X Subscription, and what does each tier cost?

The X Subscription is a single plan launched October 12, 2026 that covers Grok, the Cursor code editor, and X Premium features, with five tiers: Free, Plus at $8 a month, Premium at $30, Super at $100, and Ultra at $200, according to SpaceXSI’s launch announcement.

All paid tiers share one weekly pool of Grok model usage. It covers the Grok apps, the Grok tab on X, and Cursor. SpaceXSI doesn’t publish message counts. It gives usage as multiples of Plus instead:

  • Plus ($8): base usage. Comes with a checkmark, creator tools, and fewer ads on X.
  • Premium ($30): 4x Plus. Includes SuperGrok, Cursor Pro, and X Premium+ benefits.
  • Super ($100): 15x Plus.
  • Ultra ($200): 50x Plus.

Go past the pool and you pay extra. SpaceXSI says extra usage is billed at API list prices through top-ups.

Fello AI’s breakdown of the help center lists annual prices too: $80 for Plus, $300 for Premium, $1,000 for Super, and $2,000 for Ultra. That works out to about two months free.

Old Plans vs New Tiers: Which One Replaces Yours

When I compared SpaceXSI’s tier list with Fello AI’s mapping of the old plans, I found the savings depend almost entirely on which subscription you hold now. Here’s the side-by-side at US monthly prices.

What you pay for today Old monthly Closest new tier New monthly Difference
X Premium $8 Plus $8 $0
SuperGrok $30 Premium $30 $0, plus Cursor Pro and X Premium+
X Premium+ $40 Premium $30 Save $10
Cursor Pro $20 Premium (Plus is Grok models only) $30 Pay $10 more
SuperGrok + Cursor Pro $50 Premium $30 Save $20
SuperGrok + Cursor Pro + X Premium+ $90 Premium $30 Save $60
X Premium Basic $3 No match — Keep your old plan

Our comparison. New prices from SpaceXSI’s October 12, 2026 announcement. Old prices and plan mapping as reported by Fello AI. The $90 combined figure is SpaceXSI’s own. US prices before tax.

The $90 headline only applies to people paying for all three. Most people aren’t.

Should you switch from SuperGrok, Cursor Pro, or X Premium?

Switching to The X Subscription saves money mainly for people who pay for two or more of SuperGrok, Cursor Pro, and X Premium+, while someone paying only for Cursor Pro would pay $10 more a month to keep third-party models in Cursor, based on SpaceXSI’s published tier prices.

A quick guide by situation:

  • SuperGrok only: switching costs nothing extra. SpaceXSI says each comparable tier gives more usage per dollar than the plan it replaces. You also pick up Cursor Pro and X Premium+ benefits.
  • X Premium+ only: Premium is $10 cheaper and includes the same X perks.
  • Cursor Pro only: think twice. Plus at $8 looks cheaper, but Fello AI’s reading of the tier list is that Plus only runs Grok models in Cursor. If you code with Claude or GPT models, you’d need Premium at $30.
  • X Premium at $8: Plus is the same price. There’s little reason to rush.

Here’s where people get tripped up. The new plan’s shared pool covers Grok models. Fello AI reports that third-party models in Cursor are billed at API prices on top. If most of your Cursor work runs on non-Grok models, add that cost before you decide.

As of October 2026, SpaceXSI says every X Subscription plan includes at least twice as much Grok-model coding usage as the comparable Cursor plan.

What’s the catch with merging accounts?

SpaceXSI’s help docs say “a completed unification is permanent” and that Support can’t reverse it, so once your Grok, Cursor, and X accounts are merged under The X Subscription, they can’t be separated again.

That matters most if you mix work and personal accounts. SpaceXSI’s own advice is to keep work and personal accounts separate unless you mean to combine them. Your accounts don’t need matching emails, because the link runs through the X account you sign in with.

The switching steps, per the unification guide:

  1. Start from the right place. Use cursor.com/unify, accounts.x.ai/unify, or the banner inside X. Mobile apps send you to the web.
  2. Pick the accounts to add, and sign in to each one.
  3. Check every account before you confirm. If the wrong one shows up, stop and contact Support before checkout.
  4. Choose Plus, Premium, Super, or Ultra, and pay.
  5. Look for the refund. SpaceXSI says old subscriptions are cancelled automatically and refunds for unused time are sent separately.

When I checked Fello AI’s write-up of the billing terms, I noticed the new plan is charged in full at checkout. The refund for your old plan comes separately, so for a few days you’re out both amounts.

Will you be billed twice if you pay through Apple?

If you pay for Cursor through the Apple App Store, switching to The X Subscription doesn’t cancel it. SpaceXSI says Apple handles that cancellation and refund, so you have to cancel it in your Apple subscriptions yourself.

The rules differ by product and store:

  • Cursor via Apple: cancel it yourself in iPhone Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions. Ask Apple for any refund.
  • Grok, Grok Bot, or X Premium via Apple: SpaceXSI cancels it and asks Apple to refund the unused time. Apple decides the amount. If Apple says no, the old plan simply runs out at the end of the period.
  • Google Play: check your subscriptions after switching and cancel anything still set to renew.
  • Gifted X Premium or Apple Family Sharing: not cancelled and not refunded.

Honestly, set a reminder to check your Apple and Google subscription lists a day after you switch. It takes 30 seconds.

How do you cancel The X Subscription?

The X Subscription is cancelled wherever you bought it: on the web at grok.com/dashboard under Billing, in X’s subscription settings for X purchases, or through Apple or Google Play for app-store purchases, according to Fello AI’s summary of SpaceXSI’s help center.

A few rules carry over from most subscription apps:

  • Cancel at least 24 hours before renewal.
  • You keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
  • Deleting the app doesn’t cancel anything.
  • Unused time isn’t refunded, except where local law requires it. Fello AI lists 14-day withdrawal rights in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland.

Cancelling later doesn’t bring back your old SuperGrok or Cursor plan, and it doesn’t separate merged accounts. That’s the permanent part again.

Tips

  • Before switching, screenshot your current plan and price. If you ever need to argue a refund, you’ll want proof of what you had.
  • Watch for the “limited-time offers” SpaceXSI mentions for existing subscribers. They may make switching later cheaper than switching today.
  • Check the Usage tab in Grok settings for a week first. If you never get near your pool, a lower tier may be enough.
  • If you’re comparing against other AI plans, our look at ChatGPT Pro’s October 30 usage cut shows how quickly “more usage” claims can change.

Warnings

  • A merge can’t be undone. Don’t link a company Cursor account to your personal X account unless you mean to.
  • SpaceXSI publishes usage as multiples, not numbers. “4x Plus” tells you nothing about how many messages you get.
  • The rollout is gradual. SpaceXSI says it will reach everyone over several days, so the switch option may not be in your billing settings yet.
  • Prices here are US list prices before tax. Your region may differ.

FAQ

Do I have to switch from SuperGrok to The X Subscription?

No. SpaceXSI says existing SuperGrok, Cursor, and X Premium subscribers can keep their current plan, price, and features. You can switch later when the option appears in your billing settings.

Does The X Subscription Plus plan include Claude or GPT in Cursor?

Not according to Fello AI’s breakdown of the tiers. Plus runs Cursor with Grok models only. SpaceXSI says third-party models stay available in Cursor on Premium and higher tiers.

Can I undo switching to The X Subscription?

No. SpaceXSI’s help docs say a completed account unification is permanent and Support can’t reverse it. Cancelling the new plan also won’t restore your old separate subscriptions.
