Claude Duet Not Showing Up? Who Can Get Access Now

Short answer: Claude Duet is a waitlist-only research preview. You need a Pro or Max plan. Your Claude account has to be in the US. And you need an invitation email. If Duet still isn’t showing up, the usual cause is an email mismatch between the waitlist, your Claude account and the Apple or Google account on your phone.

Anthropic opened Claude Duet on October 21, 2026, and the first wave of questions has been the same one: where is it? The app is real and the waitlist is open. But access arrives in waves, and a few small details decide whether you can sign in at all.

I went through Anthropic’s help center article and the launch announcement and pulled out every condition that can keep Duet hidden. They’re below, in the order worth checking.

What This Covers

Who can get Claude Duet right now?

Claude Duet is available only to people on a Claude Pro or Max plan with a US Claude account who have received an invitation from the waitlist, according to Anthropic’s help center article “Get started with Claude Duet” (checked October 26, 2026).

All three conditions apply at once. Missing any one of them keeps the app locked.

Your situation Can you use Duet today? What to do
Pro or Max, US account, invited Yes Open the invite on your phone and follow the setup
Pro or Max, US account, not invited yet Not yet Join the waitlist and wait for your wave
Free plan No Duet is included only in Pro and Max during the preview
Team or Enterprise seat No Anthropic says these plans come later, with no date given
Account outside the US No The research preview is US-only for now

Team and Enterprise users get caught here most often. A company seat feels like a step above Max, but for Duet it doesn’t count.

Why is Claude Duet not showing up for me?

Claude Duet usually doesn’t show up because your invitation wave hasn’t reached you yet, or because the email you gave the waitlist doesn’t match your Claude account or the Apple or Google account on your phone. Anthropic’s help article lists four reasons.

  1. Your wave hasn’t come. Invitations go out in waves, and joining the waitlist doesn’t guarantee a specific date.
  2. Location. During the research preview, Duet is available in the US only.
  3. Plan type. Team and Enterprise plans aren’t supported yet.
  4. Email mismatch. Access is tied to the exact address you gave on the waitlist.

That fourth one deserves a closer look.

When I checked the setup steps, I noticed that the email has to line up in three places. The first is the waitlist form. The second is your Claude account. The third is the Apple ID or Google account on the phone where you install the app. People who signed up for Claude with a work address but use a personal Apple ID on their iPhone are the most likely to hit a wall.

If you’ve been invited and the app still won’t let you in, compare those three addresses before anything else.

One more thing. Anthropic says it can take a few minutes for the app to become available after you accept the invitation. So a blank result right after tapping the link isn’t necessarily a problem.

How do I join the Claude Duet waitlist?

You join the Claude Duet waitlist from the Claude Duet product page on claude.com by selecting “Join the waitlist” and entering the same email address you use for your Claude account. Anthropic’s help center lays it out in four steps.

  1. Open the Claude Duet product page and select Join the waitlist.
  2. Enter your name and email. Use the address on your Claude account if you already have one.
  3. Choose your Claude plan and your phone type, iPhone or Android. There’s an optional box for what you do and what you would hand off first.
  4. Select Submit. Anthropic emails you when it’s your turn.

Honestly, step 2 is where most of the later trouble starts. Typing a different address “just for the waitlist” is the quickest way to end up with an invite that doesn’t work.

Laptop, planner and coffee on a desk, the kind of morning setup a daily AI brief is meant to replace
Claude Duet sends a short brief each morning from your connected email and calendar, per Anthropic.

What happens after the invitation email arrives?

After the Claude Duet invitation arrives, you open it on your phone, install the app through the Apple or Google account tied to that same email, and sign in with your Claude account. Duet is a separate app from the main Claude app during the preview, and Anthropic says it is also available on claude.ai.

Your existing setup carries over. Duet uses the memory, skills and connectors you already have in Claude, so there’s very little to configure on day one.

Here is what you can expect from the first week, based on Anthropic’s description.

  • A short brief each morning, built from your connected email and calendar.
  • Updates during the day, but only when something needs you.
  • A Tasks tab that shows what it’s working on.
  • A Make tab where finished files show up, such as a slide deck or a dashboard.

It asks first before anything that matters. Anthropic states Duet shows you exactly what it’s about to do and waits for approval before it sends a message, makes a payment, signs a document or deletes anything.

Does Claude Duet use up my Claude usage limits?

Yes. Claude Duet draws on the same Pro or Max usage limits as regular Claude chats, including the five-hour session limit and the weekly limit, and its background work such as the morning brief also counts, according to Anthropic’s help center (October 2026).

This is the part most early write-ups skip, and it’s the one most likely to surprise you.

A normal chat only uses your limit when you type. Duet keeps working when you aren’t there. It checks your accounts at set intervals. It writes the morning brief. Larger jobs like a financial model or a deck take more model turns. All of that comes out of the same allowance you use for chat and other Claude work.

Activity Counts toward your plan limits? How heavy, per Anthropic
Messages you send to Duet Yes Same rate as chats in Claude
Morning brief Yes Background work, runs whether or not you open the app
Periodic account check-ins Yes Spaced out on purpose to save your limits
Big tasks (model, deck, dashboard) Yes More model turns and background work
Extra fee for Duet itself No charge Included in Pro and Max during the preview

If you already bump into your weekly limit on Pro, plan for that to happen sooner once Duet is running. You can tell Duet what you want to hear about and how often, which gives you some control over how chatty it gets.

The one-time limit reset that ends November 30

Anthropic gives each person admitted to the Claude Duet research preview one full usage limit reset, covering both the five-hour session limit and the weekly limit, and that reset is available until November 30, 2026, according to the Claude help center.

It’s a single reset, not a weekly perk. So timing matters.

When I compared it with how the limits work, the sensible move looks like this. Don’t spend the reset on the first afternoon you’re poking around. Save it for a day when you actually hit a wall, ideally with a big task waiting. Just don’t hold it past November 30, because after that it’s gone.

If your invitation only arrives in late November, the window will be short. The help article gives no extension for late waves.

What Duet can’t do yet

Claude Duet in the research preview runs only on Claude Opus 5.5, can’t be watched or taken over in its cloud browser, and checks your accounts at intervals rather than continuously, per Anthropic’s help center. Several other limits are listed there too.

  • You can’t pick a model. Duet decides how much effort a job needs.
  • It can’t see files on your computer or every one of your projects. It can read your work in Claude but not change it.
  • It doesn’t make phone calls or send texts to other people. It can send emails from connected accounts, with your approval.
  • Microsoft 365 isn’t available yet, and some connectors such as Slack work with limits.
  • Some actions stay blocked even if you approve them. Trading securities and moving money between accounts are two examples Anthropic gives.

Anthropic also says personal errands such as booking tickets aren’t as strong yet, because the core was built around work. That fits who the launch post targets: professionals and small business owners.

Tips

  • Use the same email on the waitlist that your Claude account uses.
  • Install Duet with the Apple or Google account tied to that email.
  • Give the app a few minutes after accepting the invite before assuming it failed.
  • Keep the one-time limit reset for a heavy day before November 30, 2026.

Warnings

  • Duet can misread a thread or misjudge what’s urgent. Read every draft and approval request before you confirm.
  • Content in emails and web pages can carry hidden instructions. Anthropic notes no defense against prompt injection is perfect.
  • Disconnecting an app stops future access, but Duet keeps memory of past information from earlier conversations.
