Temu: How to Find Good Deals Step by Step

Short answer: A good Temu deal is one you would still be happy with after shipping, returns and refunds are counted. Compare the cost per unit, not the headline price. Check the item’s return rules before you pay. Watch the price for 30 days after you buy. If something has to go back, send it all in one box. The six steps below show how.

Temu’s prices are low. The trick is knowing which low prices stay low once you add the extras.

This guide uses Temu’s own published rules, mainly the US Return and Refund Policy last updated September 17, 2026. It doesn’t list prices, discounts or coupon codes. Those change by the hour and differ by country, and a number printed here would be out of date by tomorrow.

Step 1: What does one unit actually cost?

The fairest way to compare Temu listings is the cost per unit, because the same product is often sold as a single, a 3-pack or a 10-pack, each with its own price.

Write down the pack size. Divide. That’s the whole step, and it settles most comparisons in seconds.

The example below uses made-up prices to show how it works. They are not Temu prices.

Listing (hypothetical) Price shown Units Cost per unit
Single item $3.00 1 $3.00
3-pack $7.50 3 $2.50
10-pack $22.00 10 $2.20

The 10-pack wins on paper. If you only need two, it doesn’t. The 3-pack costs less in total and leaves less clutter.

Step 2: Does the price match the option you picked?

A Temu listing can bundle several sizes, colors or versions under one product page, so the price you see first may not be the price of the option you end up selecting.

Pick every option (size, color, quantity) and only then read the price. Do it on the cart page too.

A small size or a basic version is often what sets the lowest number on a page. It isn’t like that on every listing, but checking takes ten seconds.

Check the seller name while you’re there. Temu’s price adjustment and return windows can depend on the seller, as the next steps show.

Step 3: Can this item be returned?

Most items bought on Temu in the US can be returned within 90 days of purchase, but worn or washed clothing, groceries, some health and personal care items, some free gifts, some customized products and some underwear orders are excluded, according to Temu’s Return and Refund Policy.

Electronics are different. The same policy says the return window for most electronics is 45, 60 or 90 days from purchase, depending on the seller. Sellers can also mark certain items as non-returnable, so the product page is the final word.

This part trips a lot of people up.

A “great deal” on something you can’t send back carries more risk than a slightly higher price on something you can. When I checked the policy closely, I found that the original shipping fee and import tax are not refunded if the return isn’t Temu’s or the seller’s fault. On a cheap item, those two lines can be a big share of what you paid.

Step 4: How does Temu’s 30-day price adjustment work?

Temu refunds the price difference if the selling price of the same item, from the same seller and in the same size and color, drops within 30 days of payment in the same country or region, according to Temu’s price adjustment help page.

To claim it, go to “Your Orders,” pick the eligible order and tap “Price adjustment” in the order details. The help page says the difference is paid based on the price and currency of your original order.

  • Note the date you paid. The 30 days count from payment, not delivery.
  • Check the same listing a week later and again near day 25.
  • Match the exact variant. A cheaper color doesn’t count.

Honestly, most people never claim this. It’s free money only if you remember to look. Temu doesn’t publish every exclusion, and the rules can differ by country, so treat a successful claim as a bonus, not a plan.

Stack of cardboard shipping boxes ready to be packed for a return
In the US, Temu’s first return from each order is free; the second and later returns from the same order have a $7.99 shipping fee plus tax deducted from the refund (Temu Return and Refund Policy, updated Sep 17, 2026).

Step 5: Why should returns go back in one box?

In the US, return shipping on Temu is free for the first return from each order, but the second and later returns from the same order have a $7.99 shipping fee plus tax deducted from the refund, according to Temu’s Return and Refund Policy updated September 17, 2026.

The first return can include several items. So the cheapest way to send things back is to decide everything you’re returning from an order and ship it together.

Scenario (one US order) Return shipments Fees deducted under the policy
Return 3 items together 1 $0
Return 1 item, then 2 more together later 2 $7.99 plus tax
Return 3 items one at a time 3 $15.98 plus tax

The fee is fixed. The items you send back are cheap. On a small order, a second return can cost more than the item is worth.

When I compared the US policy with the Korean-language version Temu serves in Korea, I noticed that the second-return fee is set per country: $7.99 plus tax in the US, a flat ₩2,500 in Korea. So check the policy page for your own country before you count on these numbers.

Timing matters too. The policy says your return package must be postmarked within 14 days of submitting the return request, or the return is cancelled. The prepaid label only works for shipments within the United States.

If you’ve ever started a return and then found a second problem two weeks later, you know why it pays to inspect the whole order on day one.

Step 6: Credits or card, which refund is better?

Temu lets you take a refund as Temu credits or to your original payment method; credits arrive faster and don’t expire, while card refunds can take 5 to 14 business days (up to 30 days) depending on your bank, according to Temu’s Return and Refund Policy.

Question Temu credits Original payment method
Speed Faster, per Temu 5 to 14 business days, up to 30
Expiry No expiration date Not applicable
Can you cash it out? Typically no; Temu only It’s already your money
Can you change your mind? Typically not reversible once processed Not applicable
Best if You already plan another Temu order You’re not sure you’ll shop there again

Credits only make sense if you’ll spend them. If you’re unsure, take the card refund and wait the extra days. Waiting on a slow refund? Our guide Temu Refund Not Showing Up? Here’s the Real Timeline (2026) covers what to do when it doesn’t show up.
